Always follow the inner care label — it states the maximum, not recommended, wash temperature
Wash with items of similar colour and fabric weight to prevent damage and colour bleed
Always wash on the lowest temperature possible to preserve fabric, colour, and prints
Turn items inside out before washing to protect logos, prints, and decorative details
Use a small amount of mild, liquid detergent — avoid bleach, fabric softener, and optical brighteners on all items
T-shirts
- Wash cold (30°C max) — heat softens plastisol ink and causes colour erosion over time
- Turn inside out every wash — friction from other fabrics wears the print surface
- Never use fabric softener — it degrades the ink layer
- Air dry or tumble dry on the lowest heat setting — high heat causes fibres to push through the ink, creating a faded look
- Do not iron directly over the print — if ironing is needed, iron inside out or use a pressing cloth
Do not dry clean — the chemicals make plastisol ink brittle and cause it to lift off the fabric.
Hoodies
- Wash cold to warm (30–40°C) on a gentle cycle — hot water causes shrinkage and pilling
- Turn inside out to protect any print or embroidery on the chest or sleeves
- Close the zipper (if applicable) before washing to prevent snagging
- Do not use fabric softener — it breaks down fleece fibres over time
- Tumble dry on low heat or air dry flat to maintain shape and prevent shrinkage
- Do not iron fleece directly — use a low heat setting on the reverse side if needed
Heavy jackets
- Check for loose threads before washing — gently secure with a knot to prevent unravelling
- Machine wash cold on a delicate cycle with a mild liquid detergent
- Place in a mesh laundry bag to prevent embroidery threads from snagging
- Turn inside out — protects embroidery from friction and preserves thread colour
- Remove promptly after the wash cycle — do not leave wet in a pile
- Air dry flat or on a hanger — do not wring or twist
- To iron, use a pressing cloth between iron and fabric and iron on reverse only
Never rub a stain directly on embroidery — blot only. Avoid bleach and optical brighteners entirely.
Gilets
- Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle — hot water can damage padding and the outer shell
- Zip all zippers closed before washing to protect lining and zipper teeth
- Use a mild detergent — avoid fabric softener, which breaks down insulating fill
- Tumble dry on low heat — add a couple of clean tennis balls to restore loft in padded fill
- Hang upright to air dry if not using a tumble dryer — never fold while wet
- Do not iron over quilted or padded panels — they can compress permanently under heat
Windbreakers & technical outerwear
- Check the care label — most windbreakers are machine washable on a gentle, cold cycle
- Empty all pockets and zip every zipper closed before washing
- Turn inside out to protect the outer shell and any DWR (water-repellent) coating
- Use a mild, liquid detergent free of dyes, brighteners, or fragrance — these degrade water-resistant coatings
- Never use fabric softener — it actively breaks down the water-repellent finish
- Air dry by hanging on a clothes line or rack — avoid tumble drying unless the label permits low heat
- Spot clean minor marks with a damp cloth first — reserve full washes for when truly needed
- Do not iron — heat can melt or warp waterproof coatings and seam sealing
If water stops beading off the surface after washing, the DWR finish may need reactivating. Tumble dry on low for 20 minutes, or apply a specialist DWR re-proofer spray available from outdoor gear retailers.
